ABS undertakes a number of projects each year that aim to develop a better understanding of issues affecting UK business and management education. The projects address contemporary policy issues and vary from quick surveys of member opinion to long term reviews of trends in business and management education.
ABS regularly works in partnership with external agencies such as the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) to promote our members' interests.
ABS Research Projects
The Business of Branding and Webworks
- Is your school effectively positioned in the competitive business education marketplace?
- Does your school web site offer a good return on the investment made? Does it help attract top students?
In 2007 ABS started two important research programmes, The Business of Branding and Web Works, with CarringtonCrisp to provide key data to help schools better position their offer to different audiences and enhance the performance of their web site. Both studies built on the successful research carried out in previous years, which have now involved 50 business schools in 11 countries with over 25,000 respondents.
The Business of Branding is a group research programme providing business schools with a better
understanding of perceptions of their school, its positioning in the market and performance of competitors. Provided with information on respondents at their own school and global data, schools are able to use the research findings to get better results from their marketing spend, focusing on brand strengths.
With such importance placed on web sites, ABS have developed a new research programme, Web Works, to help schools better understand attitudes to their web site, gather market-wide good practice and develop improvements for their site.
Both studies targeted key audiences including first degree students, MBAs, other business Masters,
executive education participants, alumni, faculty and admin staff. Research for Web Works takes place in January/February while The Business of Branding will follow in February/March.
